Mogadishu, (insidesomalia.org) Mediation efforts between Somali Transitional Federal Government and opposition are underway in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
Delegation from the Alliance for Liberation of Somalia , an alliance of former Union of Islamic Courts members, former Member of Somali Parliament , Diaspora and civil societies established in Asmara, Eretria, met with UN General Secretary Representative to Somalia Mr Ould Abdalla and former President of Nigeria , General Obosanjo to start plan to start talks between TFG and opposition.
"It is a two way approach" said a Somali diplomat in Nairobi who declined his name to be mentioned.
"The President and Prime minister seem to take two different directions, the Prime Minister wishes inclusive negotiations but the president prefers vise versa" he added.
The Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein is rather conservative than the more extreme president due to dealing with the opposition led by the moderate leadership of Sheikh Sharif who always preconditioned talking with the government that Ethiopian troops withdrew from Somalia.
The oppositions are extending their war fronts against the government and Ethiopian troops in took briefly key positions in the regions of Hiran, Middle Shabelle, Central Somalia, Bay and Bakool where many government forces were killed and wounded and government military weaponry were confiscated .
The Bakara war zone has now became a buffer zone after government forces were remove from their key positions along the main roads in and outside of the Bakara Market , the main market in the country.
Somali President offered amnesty to seven political prisoners after he had met with elders from the Suleimnan sub clan of Habar gidir , the first of its kind since the fighting I Mogadishu erupted between government forces backed by the Ethiopians against insurgents.
The visit of Ethiopian Foreign Minister Sieum Misffin in Mogadishu last week also created an assumption that there is still difference between President Yousuf and Prime Minister Nur Adde over the start of negotiations between Somali government and the oppositions.
"It a positive step and the prime minister is doing well” said Abdirashid Heider, a local journalist and member of National Union of Somali Journalists.
It is a relief and now, people seem to feel safe due to the past two months of conflict and argument counter argument.
The new task force at the Bakara market seems solve the problem existing and life becomes normal as business return into its routine way.
Government and opposition could do more than what the business men and Prime Minister Nur Adde had achieved so far.
